SENSEI MATT LONGMUIR

CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Karate Instructor Matt Longmuir Shihan has an extensive background in martial arts; a passion that began for him 27 years ago. Through his experience as a teacher, he has developed training opportunities that allow the participant to grow physically, psychologically, and spiritually. To do this, he works to incorporate both internal martial arts like influenced breathing techniques and isometric tension exercises and external martial arts, like body strengthening and conditioning, to provide the participant with a balanced experience. He earned his 1st-degree black belt (Sho-dan) in 2002 while training under the guidance of Hanshi Frank T. Perry (United Kingdom Seiki-Juku Karate).

In 2006 Matt Longmuir Shihan emigrated to Brisbane Australia and continued his training in Gōjū-Ryū Karate-Do Shuseikan under the guidance of Hanshi Seiichi Fujiwara, Gōjū-Ryū Karate-do Seiwakai.

Matt Longmuir Shihan travels to Japan regularly to train and was successfully graded to 5th-degree (Go Dan) black belt in 2024 Gōjū-Ryū Karate-do Shuseikan. He is also a 4th-degree black belt (Yon-dan) in the Japan Karate-do Federation (JKF) Goju Kai.

SENSEI TITUS

Titus Sensei began his love for Martial arts in 1972 at the age of 16 started training in Kenpo kai. After 2 years a friend introduced him to Goju Kai Karate do. During the first lesson, (under the guidance of Ian Wallace Sempai) Titus Sensei found his true passion. After obtaining his green belt, Croydon dojo merged with the Mooroolbark dojo, which was under the instruction of Tom Curtis Shihan, who was and is still a highly respected martial artist within Australia, holding numerus Australian and international titles.

After several years training and gradings (including a grading under Sico Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi) in 1982, Titus Sensei was asked by Tom Curtis Shihan to take over his dojo in Bayswater, which was a great honour.

Fast forward to 1994, having moved to Brisbane to pursue work and lifestyle changes, the love of Goju Karate never diminished. Several years passed and although Titus Sensei trained with many Goju clubs throughout that time, they were not of the intensity and technical structure he was accustomed to.

Once, Goju Ryu Shuseikan Karate presented itself, Titus Sensei once again felt at home.

Titus Sensei currently trains 4 nights a week and holds a 4th Dan  Seiwakai Goju Ryu and a 4th Dan JKF Goju Kai ranking. Titus Sensei travels to Japan regularly to train under the instruction of Fujiwara Hanshi.
